Apophysis & Chaotica
Another linked spherical-juliascope combo. After a long time without using Apophysis I stumbled upon this technique. I love it when fractal art is evidently "fractal" but not overwhelming... with just the exact ammount of patterns to show its self-similarity, but also creating shapes or structures that we can relate to. This is why I like this piece so much: notice the "man" in the center of the piece?
I have a very hard time explaining what is fractal art to people that have absolutely no background in math or sciences; this man allows anyone to understand the key concept of self-similarity in fractal art. Notice how the "shoulders" of the "man" are smaller "mans"? His "hips" and "head"? How the arms and legs are extensions of the branching structures of the fractal itself? For me this piece screams fractal in multiple ways, and that is why I find it so appealing.
